LABELS

This post is (also) available in: NederlandsFrançais

Note: The availability of this feature depends on your organization and your specific role. This feature is enabled by default for Curators. For some users, this also includes the management of organization-wide labels.

Intro

With labels, we are introducing a new concept. As a user—either individually or in collaboration with your colleagues—you can assign multiple labels or ‘tags’ to any article. This tagging process can be performed manually or automated via boards.

These labels form the foundation for targeted distribution and analysis. Through the Analysis tool, you can examine specific data from one or more labels across multiple parameters. Additionally, you can curate live feeds—or dynamic newsfeeds—based on your selected labels. They also enable you to efficiently populate different categories within your newsletters.

Naturally, we provide the necessary tools to organize your labels hierarchically, manage them, and perform searches or filtering with ease. You can also efficiently assign labels to one or multiple articles simultaneously. This functionality is accessible via Search, Boards, or anywhere else within the platform.

Assign labels

You can assign labels in various places throughout the portal. This can be done from an individual article or via a multi-select action, for example, from your search results. To do so, click the ‘label articles’ icon.

In the following pop-up window, you can assign one or more labels to your selected article(s). As soon as you enter characters into the search field, an overview of your recently used keywords and labels matching your input will appear.

To assign a new label, type the full name, after which the system will prompt you to choose either ‘Create as a new personal label’ or ‘Create as a new organization label’. As the names suggest: personal labels are for individual use (or for specific sharing with one or more colleagues), whereas organization labels are visible to everyone within the organization who has the appropriate label permissions.

Click ‘Save changes’ to save your assigned labels.

Once you have assigned a label during a session, a new icon to add the following articles to the last used label will appear on every article throughout the portal. This allows you to quickly apply the same label to new articles with a single click.

Can you assign labels automatically? Yes, you can! For every board, you will find an ‘Autolabeling’ feature within the settings. This allows you to automatically assign a label to every incoming article based on your board’s query.

Manage Labels

Navigate to Explore > Labels to access all labels relevant to you. These are organized into Organization Labels and ‘My Labels’, where you can find your personal labels as well as those shared with you by others. Simply click a label to display all associated articles in the central pane.

Click ‘Add new label’ to create a new label. A step-by-step guide will assist you through the process. Assign a name to the label and indicate whether it should be an organization label. Next, click ‘Manage labels’ to position the label among your existing labels. You can ‘nest’ labels up to one level deep to keep them organized. To do so, use the ‘hamburger’ icon (three horizontal lines) to drag the label to your desired location. Finally, choose whether or not you wish to share the label with colleagues and press ‘Create label’ to complete the process.

You can modify any label via ‘Edit label settings’. Within the ‘General’ section, you can permanently remove a label by selecting ‘Delete label’. Deleting a label does not affect newsletters that were created based on that specific label.
The ‘Clear label’ feature allows you to remove the label from all articles while keeping the label itself active, unlike the ‘Delete’ option which removes the label entirely from the system.

Via the ‘Collaboration’ tab, you can manage how you share labels with colleagues. This is particularly useful when multiple team members are working together on the same curation tasks. Once you share a label with one or more colleagues, it will appear in their ‘My Labels’ section. Shared labels are also marked with a specific icon to ensure it is clear to everyone that the label is being shared.

If you determine that a label is relevant to all colleagues, you can convert it into an organization label here. Please note: this action cannot be undone.

Always click ‘Save changes’ to save your modifications. You will then be redirected back to the overview screen.

You can reorganize your labels at any time. To do so, use the ‘Manage labels’ option at the bottom left of your screen. Simply drag the labels to your desired position and click ‘Save changes’ to confirm.
With the ‘Sort alphabetically’ option, you can sort all labels in a single move. Additionally, hovering your mouse over a label allows you to click through directly to its settings.

My clippings

Clippings created from print or broadcast (RTV) articles will appear under ‘My Labels > My Clippings’ after a few seconds. If you wish to delete a clipping, click the three dots (…) icon and select ‘Delete clipping’. You will be prompted to type the word ‘Delete’ to confirm the permanent removal.
Please note that due to browser cache settings, it may take a moment for the clipping to effectively disappear from your view.

If you want an easy way to integrate articles from a specific label into your intranet, a BI tool, or other platforms, you can use our Quick Integration Link feature. This can be found under ‘Edit label settings > Advanced’. Simply clicking the button will generate a JSON feed that is designed for easy integration.
